Amber Barrett admitted she felt she had to prove herself tonight against Zambia in a bid to confirm her place in the Republic of Ireland WNT's World Cup squad.
The Milford navite scored twice in a 3-2 win having come on as a half-time substitute, with the first coming from the penalty spot and then a delicate dink to put Ireland 3-1 up on 75 minutes, from Letterkenny native Ciara Grant's assist. Erin McLaughlin from Culdaff was also introduced at the break and in doing so made her international debut. Watch Barrett's interview with RTÉ's Tony O'Donoghue below:

Manager Vera Pauw is due to name the 23-player squad next Thursday for the finals, where Ireland open against Australia in Sydney in four weeks tonight.
