Jack Keaney was on target as UCD book a place in the second round of the FAI Cup.

The Donegal Town man netted from a free-kick in the Students’ 3-2 win over Cobh Ramblers at the UCD Bowl.

UCD had to come from behind after Dale Holland coolly slotted home in the 16th minute.

Keaney drew UCD level just seven minutes later. A powerful, low effort from Keaney found the bottom corner.

Keaney challenged for the set-piece that led to UCD taking the lead just four minutes into the second half, but the goal went down as an own goal from Wilson Waweru.

Daniel Norris made it 3-1 after the hour and UCD held on after Dean Larkin scored 20 minutes from the end for the visitors.
