The Ireland squad and management celebrate qualification.

James Boyle scored a hat-trick as the Irish Amputee football team qualified for the 2024 European Championships.

The Dungloe man netted a treble in a 6-0 win over Germany in Ireland’s final EAFF Nations League Group B match in France.

At the Annecy Stadium, Ireland defeated Germany 6-0 with Boyle blasting three goals. Neil Hoey, Kevan O’Rourke and Stefan Balog also on target.

The victory meant that Ireland, managed by Chris McElligott, finished as the runners-up and go through to the finals next June.

Ireland began with a 1-1 draw against France, Kevin Fogarty scoring the goal, before losing out 2-1 to Italy with Ruairi Murphy scoring a late consolation goal.

Boyle was just six years old when he had his left leg amputated. Boyle was born with fibular hemimelia, a defect where the fibula bone is missing.

In 2012, while at Cappagh hospital for a prosthetic appointment, he saw an advert for the Irish Amputee team and he has become a regular inclusion in the side.
