Donegal Town U-16’s became SFAI Subway Ulster Regional Champions as they defeated Keadue Rovers at a windy John Sherlock Park, Cootehill on Saturday.

In a tense encounter, Donegal Town had to defend resolutely as they faced a stiff breeze in the first half.

Both teams had early chances but it was Thomas Lenighan who produced the moment of the match when he latched onto a Nikodem Dominik header and finished neatly to the bottom corner.

Keadue put the pressure on and forced a number of corners but Donegal Town put their bodies on the line and went in 1-0 ahead at the break.

The wind played a factor throughout and clear chances were at a premium.

Thomas Lenighan came closest on a couple of occasions again in the second half.

There were jubilant scenes at the end of a very sporting affair for the Donegal Town lads.

Everyone wishes a speedy recovery to the Keadue Rovers player who fell ill before the match.
