Georgie Kelly with Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson.
Carlisle United have confirmed the addition of Donegal man Georgie Kelly.
The Tooban native has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at Bruton Park.
Kelly moves to League One side Carlisle after being snapped up from Championship outfit Rotherham United.
In two years at Rotherham, Kelly scored six goals in 51 games, including a history-making goal in 2021 that secured Rotherham promotion to the Championship in a win over Gillingham.
This season, Kelly scored one goal in 19 outings for the Millers and will hope to hit the target for Carlisle, who are battling relegation.
"He's a player we've liked for the last 12 months,” said Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson - who had a spell on loan at Finn Harps in the 1984-85 season.
“He's struggled to get game time at Rotherham and the opportunity came up to sign him on a permanent deal.
"I'm absolutely delighted we've been able to get him in. He's a player who is for now but also for the long-term.
"He's a good size and he had a fantastic goalscoring record when he was over in Ireland. He's a big, strong, physical number nine and I think he'll be somebody who can cause problems at this level.”
