Donegal Town native Jack Keaney has got off to a flying start with his new club Drogheda United after they secured their third consecutive Jim Malone Cup triumph in a thrilling 2-1 win against Dundalk in the first Louth derby at Oriel Park, the home of Dundalk, on Friday night.

In the 55th minute, the hosts claimed the lead with a well-executed finish from Eoin Kenny, the son of former Dundalk and Republic of Ireland manager Stephen, marking his debut senior goal for the club.

Ten minutes later, the visitors leveled the score as Warren Davis capitalised on a goalkeeping mistake from Dundalk's new netminder, Ross Munro.

As the game appeared destined for a draw, Davis drew a foul inside the area in the 92nd minute. Although Munro initially thwarted Davis's penalty kick, the rebound favoured the substitute, who capitalised on the opportunity to secure both the silverware and bragging rights for Kevin Doherty’s team.
