Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair were convincing winners over Coláiste Oiriall of Monaghan in the FAI Schools Junior 'B' Ulster final (U-17) at the Lakeside, Ballyshannon.
The final scoreline flattered the Monaghan side who were outplayed for most of the game. The Gaoth Dobhair boys had chance after chance in the second half but found it difficult to get a third goal.
They had gone two goals up inside 20 minutes with Micheal McGee tapping in at the back post for the first and then Colm Doherty adding a second.
However, they were pegged back when Conal Alfred, a player that starred at U-19 level against Coláiste Ailigh at the same venue a few weeks ago, scored for the Monaghan side.
The second half was one-way traffic with the Gaoth Dobhair school just unable to finish with Colm Doherty (twice) and Jordi Gribbin going close. Big centre forward Brian McFadden was causing the Monaghan defence plenty of problems.
There was always the danger of a breakaway goal for the Monaghan side but the issue was decided in the final minutes when Colm Doherty set up Jordi Gribbin to slot home the third.
The Donegal school will now play either St Tiernan's, Crossmolina or Glenamaddy CS in the All-Ireland semi-final.
