Renowned sporting figure for both the Republic of Ireland and Celtic, Packie Bonner was present last night for the unveiling of a commemorative seat dedicated to the memory of John Gorey Curran, the well-respected local personality and former official of Letterkenny Rovers.

Located prominently at the Oldtown Bridge, near Gorey's cherished homeplace, the bench stands as a testament to his legacy and contributions to the game in Donegal.

The event drew a crowd comprising family members, close friends, and comrades from the football community, all coming together to pay tribute.

Gorey Curran, notable for his involvement on the Executive Council of the FAI Youth Council, was known for his unwavering advocacy for nurturing young football talent from the North West region.

His dedication led to the establishment of the John Gorey Curran Youth Cup, an annual tournament held in his honor, further solidifying his impact on the local football scene.
