The late James Given
Copany Rovers FC have paid tribute to club stalwart James Given following his passing this week.
Posting on their official Facebook account, a short statement read: “The club are deeply saddened at the passing of former manager and player James Given.
“James played a pivotal part in many aspects of the club having filled roles as senior team manager, youth team manager, and groundsman as well as being a former player with a noted sweet left foot.
“The club sends its sincere condolences to James' family and friends at this difficult time”.
Letterbarrow Celtic also took to social media to pay their respects.
“All of us here at Letterbarrow Celtic are deeply saddened on hearing of the passing of James Given. To say James was fond of football would be a huge understatement.
“James was a fanatical Arsenal supporter and a stalwart of Copany Rovers for most of his adult life. James was a player, a manager and even a player-manager and was totally committed to Copany Rovers. May James rest in peace”.
Sadly missed by his loving Mum Mary, dad Francis, son Stephen and partner Agnes. Deeply regretted by his brothers Thomas (Georgina), William (Bernie), David (Charlene) and sister Caroline (Adrian), nieces, nephews and extended family.
James’ funeral service will take place this afternoon, Wednesday, in Laghey Parish Church at 2pm followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.
