Tony McNamee says Finn Harps are determined to stop their recent rot starting with the visit of Treaty United to Ballybofey on Friday night.

After a superb start to the season, Darren Murphy’s side has taken a little wobble in recent weeks and have lost their last three games.

After suffering just one defeat in their first eight outings, Harps have now endured successive losses to Athlone Town, Cobh Ramblers and Cork City.

Still, skipper McNamee insists that recent spate of poor results can be halted when seventh-placed Treaty visit Finn Park at the weekend.

“Treaty have started the season very well,” said McNamee. “We managed to beat them down there.

“It was probably our best performance to date. After our last few results, they’ll feel they can come up here and put one over us.

“It’s not nice losing football games, especially three on the bounce. So it’s about how we react now.

“Different players react in different ways. Some lads need an arm around the shoulder others get on with it. And Murph is very good at that - knowing who needs what.

“But one result can get us back on track. The 3-2 win in Longford, that put us on a very good run”.

Harps had initially found themselves 2-0 inside the opening 13 minutes that night in Bishopsgate but battled back to parity by the 67th minute. And, in the dying seconds of injury time, Mark Mbuli popped up to score a dramatic winner.

“Had that ended 2-1 to Longford, we might not have done that,” McNamee explained. “So we know one result can quickly change things. And that has to be the aim on Friday night”.
