Keadue Rovers' new manager Patrick Bonner
Keadue Rovers FC have announced Patrick Bonner as their new team manager for the 2024/25 season and will be assisted in the role by Paul Ferry.
This news comes three days after Pat Ward stepped down as manager.
The Rosses-based side, who play in the Premier Division of the Donegal Junior Football League, have paid tribute to Ward and his assistant Bernie Gallagher for their work.
The pair guided the team to continued improvement and were within a whisker of winning the Brian McCormick Sports Cup last season, only to be pipped 4-3 by Letterkenny Rovers in the final at Ballyare.
The club’s new manager Bonner enjoyed a fine playing career, one which has seen him represent Finn Harps, Derry City, Fanad United, and of course Keadue Rovers. He was also capped at underage level for the Republic of Ireland.
The new assistant manager Paul Ferry also enjoyed a stellar career, and captained the Irish Schoolboys International side in 2003 while also making his Finn Harps first-team debut that same season against Cobh Ramblers, and had a spell at Galway United, whilst he also played for Keadue in the Ulster Senior League.
Taking to social media today, the club stated: “It is fantastic to get the two lads onboard ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
“The pair are already busy making plans for pre-season, and hope to announce a few new signings in the next few days, whilst they also plan to add to their backroom team. We wish them both well ahead of the new season.”
