Lifelong Finn Harps supporter and the Honorary President of the Finn Harps Supporters Club, Benny Gordon celebrated his 99th birthday at the weekend.

A native of Ballybofey, Gordon lives on the Donegal Road and has been an avid Finn Harps fan since the club began.

From the day the club joined the League of Ireland and he alongside a few others started the Finn Harps Supporters Club, Gordon has been a staunch supporter of Finn Harps.

It doesn’t matter how the team is faring, what division they are in, who is managing the club, or where they are playing, Finn Harps has always been his team. His support for the club has never wavered.

Gordon is a well-known face around the town and at Finn Park and celebrated his birthday wearing the club jersey.

He is also a member of the 500 Club, the Finn Harps fundraiser, in which he has won the top prize of €300 on more than one occasion.

Born in 1925, and having the hardship of losing his father at the age of 11, Gordon started his working career at the Stranorlar Railway Station but spent most of his life working for the Donegal County Council and the North Western Health Board, now HSE.

His family have taken after him for their love of the Ballybofey club, as his daughter Margaret Gordon, and grandson Callum are volunteers with the club.

Finn Harps posted on their social media to wish their dedicated supporter a happy birthday on Wednesday.
