Former Finn Harps captain Jim Sheridan honoured on Friday night in Letterkenny

The Letterkenny Community Heritage Group honoured the captain of the Finn Harps team that won the 1974 FAI Cup at Dillon’s Hotel with a large crowd in attendance

Finn Harps legend Jim Sheridan was honoured at a special event in Letterkenny on Friday night with the Letterkenny Community Heritage Group hosting an event for the man who captained Harps to their 1974 FAI Cup win at Dillon’s Hotel.   

There were a number of guest speakers, including former Harps manager Patsy McGowan, former captain Jamsie Nicholl, and Harps historian Bartley Ramsay.  

Addressing the large crowd gathered in his honour, Sheridan spoke of the great times he had with all of his teammates when he was leading the club and focused especially on the famous FAI Cup Final win over St Pat’s in 1974.  

Jim thanked his former teammates for turning up and the many other notable figures who showed up which was a special evening for him and his family.
