Damien Friel with Marty McDaid
Swilly Rovers have appointed Damien Friel as the club's new senior team manager.
Friel, a long-time club member, has taken over as the new boss ahead of the 2024/25 Donegal League Premier Division campaign.
The previous management team of Laurence Toland, Paul Callan and Freddie Boyle stepped down at the end of last season.
The Swilly Park outfit finished seventh in the Premier Division.
“Damien has been an integral part of Swilly Rovers for a number of years, showcasing his dedication and passion both on and off the field,” Swilly Rovers said.
“Damien has been with the club through highs such as playing in the Ulster Senior League and lows with our club.
“Now, he bring this wealth of experience and intimate knowledge of the club to their new role as manager.”
Until 2019, Swilly operated in the now-defunct Ulster Senior League having been one of the founder members of the intermediate league in 1986.
Swilly won Division Two of the Donegal League in 2020, just before the Covid-19 lockdown and in 2023 won the First Division, confirming their top flight return.
