Ballyraine FC celebrate their capturing of the Donegal Youth League at the Market Square in Letterkenny
Ballyraine FC are Donegal Youth League champions for the first time in their history.
The team managed by Enda Nicholls and Kyle Maloney finished the season unbeaten and got over the line in the most dramatic of fashion on Wednesday night.
Sitting two points behind Bonagee United with both teams playing out a pulsating 2 -2 draw in the penultimate game of the season, Ballyraine were to host Raphoe/Killea at home whilst the leaders Bonagee headed through the Gap to face Drumbar United FC.
A win would guarantee the title for Bonagee regardless whilst a draw and a Ballyraine victory would see a playoff. As it turned out, Drumbar United defeated Bonagee 2-1 and Ballyraine got the three points as Raphoe/Killea didn’t field so the Ballyraine clinched the title. There will be a huge smile on the face of Charlie Shiels, a driving force behind the club since its formation, and the late Andy O'Boyle this week.
