Two Donegal teenagers, Aaron McLaughlin and Sean Patton, have been selected for the Ireland Men's Under-19 squad, with McLaughlin earning his first cap at this level.

Last season McLaughlin signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with Finn Harps with the contract keeping the academy graduate at Finn Park until December 2026, with the Donegal teen joining the Finn Harps Academy from Mulroy Academy at age 12.

Meanwhile for Drumkeen native Patton, who plays for Derry City but is on-loan at Finn Harps, he is flying at the moment with the teenager recently spending a week with Portsmouth earlier in the pre-season, during which he scored in three warm-up matches.

Ireland head Coach Tom Mohan has announced a 23-man squad for the upcoming international fixtures in Slovenia, where they will face France, Kazakhstan, and Slovenia.

These matches serve as crucial preparation for the European Qualifiers, with the Under-19s scheduled to travel to Moldova in November to take on the hosts, Azerbaijan, and Iceland.

Mohan has also handed first caps to Jacob Devaney from Manchester United, Shamrock Rovers’ Cian Dillon, Cian O’Shea of Stockport County (currently on loan at Stockport Town), UCD’s Cathal McCarthy, and Declan Osagie of Bohemians.

Meanwhile, Colin O’Brien’s Under-17s are set to travel to Spain for a double-header against Denmark as part of their own preparations for the European Qualifiers.
