Cappry Rovers have set up an official FAI Club School link with Dooish National School.

The FAI’s Club School Link is a UEFA funded programme which aims to support clubs to engage with local primary schools and build a relationship and encourage more children to participate in football in a school and a club setting.

Cappry Rovers Academy will now send a UEFA badged coach into local schools that want to avail of this offer, the club has said.

This program is only available to Club Mark star clubs. Cappry Rovers academy attained this status during the summer.

Frank McGlynn, the Principal at Dooish NS, is a former Cappry Rovers player.

FAI Regional Developer Officer Shane Barr said: “It’s fantastic to see another one of our Club Mark Programme clubs in Cappry Rovers engaging and working with us on the FAI Club-School Link Programme, which involves a coaching programme in Dooish NS.

“The club-school link is an important programme and beneficial for our clubs for many reasons, most notably more contact time with their players in the local school, recruiting new players who may not yet be playing the game, and also adding great value to the school sports programme whist being very impactful in the local community.

“Paddy McNulty, Aaron Kelly and the whole committee at Cappry Rovers have been working hard through the club mark programmme alongside us, and have many more programmes to roll out which is exciting for the game in that local area.”

Cappry Rovers have thanked Dooish NS 'for engaging with us so enthusiastically' and the FAI for their assistance.
