Rory White (Finn Harps Secretary), Max Johnston, Tommy Canning (Finn Harps Coach)
Max Johnston and Kevin Jordan have both secured two-year contract extensions with Finn Harps, which will see them remain at Finn Park until the conclusion of the 2026 season.
Jordan, who joined the Finn Harps Academy from Buncrana Hearts, made his first appearance for the senior team last season, featuring 21 times. Despite facing a serious injury during preseason, he successfully returned to action as Harps continue their push for a play-off position.
At just 18, Johnston has established himself as a regular in the first team this season, after making his senior debut in 2023. The forward netted his first senior goal in a 3-2 victory over Longford Town in May and has since made 22 appearances in the current campaign.
Following the pair’s contract renewals, Darren Murphy shared his thoughts on the players and the club’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young local talent, ensuring a clear progression from academy to first team.
“I’m delighted that both players have committed to stay at the club for the next two years."
“Kevin Jordan obviously went through a tough time earlier this season with injury, but since his return to the team, he’s really shown his quality. As the years progress, I can certainly see him developing into a highly skilled centre-half, even though he’s been playing as a left-back for the first team. He’s a fantastic person to work with, great in the dressing room, and it’s brilliant that he’s committed to the club.
“With Max Johnston, I was immediately impressed when I arrived at the club a few years ago. His infectious enthusiasm positively influences everyone around him. Max is incredibly passionate about the club, and his desire to represent Harps is evident in his performances and the effort he shows on the pitch. He’s been a key part of the first team this season, and his development has been outstanding, so I’m thrilled to keep working with him.
"On a personal note, I’m really pleased that these two players have chosen to stay with the club for the next two years. This is just one step towards laying the foundation for Finn Harps’ future.
"Our future lies in developing our own talent. While we’ll continue to look beyond the county for quality where necessary, it’s crucial to me that we support the players who have come through our academy and have a strong connection to the club and the community.
“I want to extend my gratitude to the academy coaches who have done an incredible job with the boys, and particularly to Kevin McHugh for his vision and foresight in establishing the club’s academy. It may have taken a bit longer than expected to create this pathway to the senior team, but we’re definitely making progress now.
“I’m sure the fans will be thrilled that two promising young local players have committed their futures to the club for the next two years.”
