Two clubs have officially written to the Donegal League to express their concerns about the conduct of one of their match referees.
Using the FAI’s official Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for Referees as a reference, one of the clubs has accused the referee in question of “showing blatant bias” towards an opposing team as well as a “lack of professionalism and an antagonistic method of goading members of their own side”.
One of the written complaints - seen by DonegalLive - says the same referee “used foul language to a player in front of young spectators” and that “his tone is consistently of an extremely arrogant and condescending nature”.
The official written correspondence further adds that the match official “aggressively berated” one of the team in question’s backroom members leaving his nearby “eight-year-old daughter crying and distressed”.
DonegalLive understands that one of the clubs has furnished the Donegal League with a video of the game in question to back up their claims.
When contacted by DonegalLive this week, a Donegal League spokesperson was unable to comment on the matter, which is currently going through a process that falls under the FAI’s disciplinary umbrella.
