Caolan McFadden celebrates his win in Tramore

Caolan McFadden added another national gold medal to his ever-growing haul.

The Cranford AC man won the U19 national cross country title on Sunday in Tramore.

McFadden retained the title he won in Navan last year having won the U16 title on home soil at Rosapenna in 2022. He also won the U18 crown last year in Gowran Park.

The Creeslough man powered to gold in Tramore as he overcame the challenges of Cillian Gleeson (Celbridge) and Ruairi McEvoy (Kilkenny City Harriers) for the win.

Odhran McBrearty surged to silver in the U17 boys race. The Finn Valley AC man was beaten to gold by Enniskillen Running Club’s Harry McKenzie.

McBrearty beat off competition from Harry Cahill of Donore Harriers to take the silver.

Zach McKinley was an excellent silver medallist in the boys U11 race. McKinley was behind only Auden Bambury of Leevale AC and ahead of City of Derry Spartans’ Lukas Janosik to take the individual silver medal.

McKinley’s wonderful performance guided Finn Valley AC to team bronze with Shay McHugh in 12th delivering a fine display and they were joined on the scoring team by Darragh Coyle (25) and William McGlinchey (123).

Finn Valley AC also took team bronze in the U15 girls with Darcie Clarke at the head of the charge in 34th. Clarke was backed up by Andrea Reid (39), Aimee McElchar (45) and Saorla Gilligan (47) on the scoring team.
