Kevin Jordan and Head of Sport at ATU Donegal Michael Murphy
Atlantic Technological University (ATU) student Kevin Jordan from Buncrana has been selected to represent Ireland in the upcoming College University Football League (CUFL) this year.
The announcement follows a competitive trial process held last month in Dublin, where Jordan was successful in earning his spot amongst a squad of 18 players.
Sharing his experience, Jordan comments: “There were around 90 players at the trails, so there was good competition and good standards amongst everyone. I’m very proud to have made it.”
Jordan, a third-year student at ATU Donegal Letterkenny campus, is currently studying a Bachelor of Science in Sports & Exercise with Physical Education. An ATU sports scholarship recipient for the past three years, his enthusiasm for sports is evident on and off the pitch.
Outside of university, Jordan plays for Finn Harps and has been a consistent starter for the senior men’s side over the past number of seasons. Whilst off with an injury in the first half of the season, gaining a spot on the CUFL squad marks a triumphant return for Jordan.
Michael Murphy, Head of Sport at ATU Donegal, said: “We all in ATU are very proud of Kevin’s achievement on making the Ireland Colleges & Universities side. It is fantastic recognition for himself to represent his country and we wish him and all his Ireland teammates the very best in their upcoming fixture.”
Kevin added: “I can’t wait to go, it will be a great experience to get going and it will be my first time going with a national team.”
The team of 18 departed Ireland on Monday, December 9, and travelled to Nance to take on the French Universities side scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 11.
