Lagan Harps are one of the early leaders securing a victory on the night
The first night of the new Donegal Senior Women's Winter League started on Monday night night with 12 matches being played.
In Aura, it was a very tight affair with a single goal separating results, Lagan Harps and Drumbar Utd are the early leaders securing two victories. Fanad Utd’s goal machine Michelle Doherty returned after five years and once again got on the score sheet.
In Ballyare, Letterkenny won twice, and there was the return of Orla and Gemma Boyle to football to play with Raphoe Town. The academy players of Kildrum Tigers turned out in force to see their mothers kick off their league campaign, with Lauren Lynch scoring in both matches.
In Cappry, the home side was in flying form winning both games, with the battle of the night between themselves and Raphoe Town with a last-minute goal for Cappry. Tough night for Deele Harps who took to the challenge and grew into the games and restricted the opportunities for their opponents.
The remarkable thing about Monday night was that there were in excess of 120 players playing football, which is the winner in the long run.
