Dave Rogers has left Balzan FC

Dave Rogers has left Balzan FC after just six months in charge with with the Maltese side rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division.

The former Finn Harps boss has cited “unforeseen personal circumstances” as the reason for his abrupt departure.

Rogers had previously taken over from Ollie Horgan on Navenny Street back in 2023 after the side had slipped down from the Premier Division to the League of Ireland second tier.

However, a disastrous spell in the dugout there eventually saw him walk late in the campaign with only a handful of games remaining as Harps eventually finished second-from-bottom in the Premier Division.

A statement on Balzan’s website this afternoon read: “Balzan FC wishes to announce that Dave Rogers has stepped down from his position as First Team Head Coach due to unforeseen personal circumstances.

“Club President Anton Tagliaferro said: “We would like to thank Dave for all of his hard work and effort during his time at Balzan FC and wish him and his family well.”

Rogers added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Malta and especially as Head Coach of Balzan FC though due to unfortunate personal circumstances I must step aside from my position with immediate effect.

“I wish everyone at Balzan FC the very best for the future.”

Assistant Coach Daryl Willard will continue in his role as caretaker until further announcements.
