Daniel Cunningham, from Coláiste na Carraige, contributed to the Republic of Ireland Schools' 3-1 victory over Australia on Saturday at Home Farm.

Cunningham, who came on for the final 20 minutes of the match, has been making strides since joining Finn Harps at U-14 level, where he helped the team secure the LOI Cup in his first season.

He has steadily climbed through the club’s ranks and is now a key member of their MU-20 squad.

Former Finn harps boss Ollie Horgan from St Eunan’s College, Letterkenny, was a part of the Ireland management team while Martin Cavanagh from Carndonagh Community School is there as the equipment manager, and Michael McGlynn takes the role of physio.

The Republic’s season begins in earnest with their first Shield fixture against Wales on March 20 at Tramore AFC, followed by a trip to Scotland to face Stenhousemuir on March 27.

The squad will then take on defending champions Northern Ireland in Belfast on April 11 before concluding their campaign against England on April 24 at Athlone Town AFC.
