Abbey Vocational School fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Wexford CBS in the FAI Schools Tom Ticher U-17 Junior National Cup semi-final for large schools on Thursday afternoon in Oriel Park.

A goal from Charlie Mullan just before halftime gave Wexford the advantage, and despite a determined second-half effort from the Donegal Town side, they were unable to find an equaliser.

Jack Bennett came close to leveling the score, but Wexford’s defense held firm to secure their place in the final.

This result comes only a week after Wexford CBS became the first school to complete the full quota of Leinster Schools Cups when they claimed the U-17 provincial title on Thursday.

The Boker Boys previously claimed the U-14, U-15 and Senior Cups and were only looking for the U-17 title to complete the set coming into the 2024-’25 school year.
