Glenea United celebrate their Temple Domestic Appliances Division 1 championship success
Glenea United got the result they needed to ensure their return to the top-flight of the Donegal League came as Temple Domestic Appliances Division 1 champions.
Darren McGeever and Shaun Curran scored the goals, both in the first half, to take a giant step towards a return to the top flight after two seasons in the second tier.
And the locals had some anxious moments early in the second period when Daithi Gordon scored the Castlefin Celtic goal. But with Castlefin down to 10 men from the 30th minute following the sending off of Jason McKinney. McKinney received his marching orders for committing two yellow card offences in quick succession for late tackles.

But with the visitors down a man, Glenea regrouped again and finished out the game with a strong final half performance, gaining the three points to keep fellow title hopefuls Donegal Town and Lagan Harps in their rearview mirrors.
McGeever struck for the opening goal 13 minutes into the tie with a powerful header from a Cathal McGeever corner. The goal really settled Glenea who played with the aid of a strong breeze and went into the fixture knowing what they needed.
With the elements favouring them, Glenea dominated the opening half. But they had to be patient against a well-marshalled defence.
The second Glenea goal was scored on 34 minutes when Curran first-timed from just outside the box.
Seamus Doogan and Galvin Murray had late chances in the half, but their strikes were well saved by Kenny McCogan between the Castlefin posts.
It was backs to the wall for Glenea following the changing of ends in the early minutes of the second period as Castlefin took the game to Glenea.
Ronan Tourish drew a good save from Joe Coll as early as seven minutes into the new half. Coll just back from shoulder surgery, was having his game of the season as he stood in for the regular keeper Shaun McClafferty, who got married on Friday.
But the travelling support had not long to wait when Daithi Gordon chipped Coll for just outside the box for a super goal and game-on again.
But true to their form all season Glenea regrouped and with the experienced Conor Coyle, Barry McGinley stepping up in the middle of the field and Seamus Doogan raiding down the left wing, they regained control. Captain McGeever went close on a couple of occasions going close to adding to the Glenea tally.
