Emma Doherty scored twice as Galway United defeated Sligo Rovers in the Women’s Premier Division on Saturday.
The Buncrana woman scored a goal in each half to give Galway a 3-1 win in the Connacht derby at The Showgrounds.
Midway through the 2024 season, Doherty transferred to Galway from Sligo and she returned to haunt her old stomping ground.
The 21-year-old has now scored five goals this season with Galway now sitting third in the table.
Doherty broke the deadlock in the third minute and added a second in the 80th minute.
Emily Fitzgerald netted a third for Galway while Lucy Grant put through her own goal to give Sligo a late consolation goal.
