Experienced midfielder David Cawley has picked up a hamstring injury that seems likely to keep him sidelines for a few weeks.

The 33-year-old was forced off during Friday night’s 4-2 win over Kerry at Finn Park.

Cawley exited after 76 minutes when he was replaced by Aaron McLaughlin.

The former Sligo Rovers captain will miss Monday night’s clash with First Division leaders Dundalk at Oriel Park before Harps make the long journey to Cobh Ramblers on Friday.

“It’s going to be too quick of a turnaround for David for Monday anyway,” Harps manager Kevin McHugh said.

“We were going to freshen things up for Monday anyway so we will call on some of the boys who are chomping at the bit to get in.”

Conor Tourish, Joel Thompson and Kevin Jordan will return to the squad from a suspension ahead of Monday’s game.

The absence of defender Tourish, in particular, was evident during Friday’s win.

McHugh said: “We missed Conor back there. He’s such an influential figure around the changing room and when he’s on the pitch he reads the game so well.

“He attacks the ball so well and he organises around him. We definitely missed his experience tonight, but when we addressed things at half-time Max (Hutchison) and Josh (Cullen) stood up really well.

“Conor has presence and sheer dominance at the back.”
