Keri Loughrey picked up her award in Belfast on Saturday night in Belfast

Keri Loughrey was named LocalWomenSport.com Donegal Sportswoman of the Year at a gala awards ceremony on Saturday night in the Europa Hotel, Belfast.

Keri was nominated by Buncrana Hearts president, Jonathan Adair, not only for her exploits on the football pitch with the Republic of Ireland U-19s, Sligo Rovers, and ATU Donegal, but also for the fantastic work she does coaching kids in our Football for All programme.

Keri, the Hearts' 'Football for All' coach, and her sister Jodie are two of the most popular members of our coaching staff, working with kids and adults with special or additional needs.

The club received word in mid-March that Keri had been shortlisted for the award and received the invite to attend.

Unfortunately, Keri was unable to attend Saturday night’s ceremony as she was in Dublin playing with her new club, Linfield Women, against Shelbourne in the All-Ireland Cup.

In her absence, proud parents Sean and Mary attended the event, with Mary delighted to accept the award on Keri's behalf.

Keri was also recently named ATU Female Sports Star of the Year.
