A large crowd was in attendance to celebrate the Presentation night for the 2-24/25 season of the Donegal Junior League in the Silver Tassie on Friday night.

The league titles were presented to the winning teams as well as individual honours on the night, with Letterkenny Rovers boss Stephen McConnell winning the Sunday Manager of the Year award for the second season running, while Thomas McLaughlin of Oldtown Celtic picked up the Manager of the Year award, won by his father Tam the year before as Oldtown manager.

Chris Malseed won Player of the Year and BJ Banda was top scorer in the Premier Division as Letterkenny Rovers toasted a successful treble, and Adam Murphy (Player of the Year) and Jordan Nugent (top scorer) added to their haul in the Saturday Division Two.

Darren McGeever (Glenea United) picked up the Division One Player of the Year, with Kyle Martin (Lagan Harps) earning the top scorer accolade, and in Division Two, James Kerr (Kerrykeel ‘71) was Player of the Year, with Michael Sweeney (Whitestrand United) picking up top scorer.

There were further awards for Oldtown Celtic’s Drew Connolly (Player of the Year) and Josh Cunningham of St Catherine’s (top scorer) in the Saturday Division One and in Division Three, Fanad United’s Daibhid Lynch was Player of the Year with top scorer going to Drumkeen United’s Lee Guthrie.

Long-time supporters and servants of the Donegal Junior League were appreciated on Friday night, with John McGlanaghy, Johnnie McGeever, Deirdre Walsh, Sean O’Donnell and Brian McCormick picking up Lifetime Achievement awards.

"This is an evening for winners and it’s good that they can celebrate something after a long and hard season," Donegal Junior League secretary Nigel Ferry said briefly before the awards.

"We’ve been on the go since 1972 and these evenings have gone from strength to strength since.

"A special word to our league chairman John Joe McCafferty who is recuperating and we’re thinking of him this evening."
