Gerard McGranaghan has stepped down as Kilmacrennan Celtic manager

Gerard McGranaghan has stepped down as manager of Donegal League Premier Division side Kilmacrennan Celtic.

‘Zola’ McGranaghan leaves the Lurgysiders following his second stint as boss.

Kilmac’ finished the 2024/25 season fourth in the top flight.

McGranaghan was previously player-manager of the club. In 2022, Kilmacrennan defeated Bonagee United 3-1 in a play-off to win the Premier Division title.

The following season, Kilmac’ overcame Letterkenny Rovers 2-0 in the Brian McCormick Cup final before taking a year out of the hotseat.

Kilmac’ are now in search of a new manager again.

The club said: “Zola has been involved with the club for several years as both a manager and player and has led the club to a number of trophies.

A native of Raphoe, McGranaghan played for Finn Harps at first team level and was a talented boxer with Raphoe Boxing Club in his youth - winning the Irish Boy 2 36kgs title in 1991.
