Oisin Duffy has signed for Strabane Athletic in what is the Tyrone club's first ever professional signing.

It's a big step for the club, who got promoted from the Ballymena & Provincial Football League First Division last month.

Managed by Castlefinn man Raymond Foy and assisted by Sean 'Wizzy' McGowan from Ballybofey, the club has a heavy Donegal link and have recruited another man from the county in the Killygordon native, a son of former Donegal player John Duffy.

The forward joins from Championship side Institute, in which he featured for the club over thirty times, scoring five goals.

Duffy said on signing: “I am delighted to sign my first professional contract with Strabane Athletic FC.

"I feel that it is the perfect place to help my development.

"Strabane Athletic have massive potential and I’m really excited to be part of the project where the aim is to attain senior football for this area.

"I’m really looking forward to getting started now!”

Strabane also recently made the high-profile signing of Tyrone Gaelic footballer Cathal McShane.
