Finn Harps are appealing to fans of the club and the League of Ireland to send in their fondest memories and stories of Ollie Horgan, which will be placed in the match programme for their next home game.

The club will once again pay tribute to their former manager and League of Ireland legend, who sadly passed away last Thursday after an illness.

Last Friday night, Finn Harps, led by captain Tony McNamee and visitors Treaty United, skippered by Lee Devitt, both laid wreaths in the middle of the pitch prior to the 1-0 win for the visitors, another fitting tribute to the boss who oversaw his side grind out plenty of big wins in his nine seasons at the club.

Ollie Horgan’s life was celebrated at the Church of Christ the King, Salthill, on Monday afternoon and was laid to rest in Rahoon Cemetery.

Many stories of the much-adored manager were told, and Finn Harps Sporting Liaison Officer Aidan McNelis is compiling many of the brilliant tales of the Galway native for the match programme.

“I will collect stories about Ollie Horgan for the next Harps Programme.  There are so many brilliant ones floating about. Send yours to slo@finnharps.ie

“Doesn't have to be about his Harps time either, heard some crackers about school etc.

“Obviously we reserve the right to edit or omit as necessary.  They can be anonymous if you want.

“Mentioned this to members of the family yesterday and they were aboard with the idea.

“So have at it if you would like to contribute.”
