The Donegal garda soccer side that competed at the weekend
The Donegal Garda soccer team took part in the Colm Horkan Memorial 5-a-side competition held today in Longford, hosted by the International Police Association (IPA).
The team performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament, advancing all the way to the final.

In a closely contested match, Donegal narrowly lost 1–0 to the Garda College team. Despite the narrow defeat, the Donegal team’s strong showing has earned them the honour of representing Ireland at the IPA World Games in Mallorca in May 2026.
The Donegal squad was: Shane O’Gara; Michael Barr, Ronan Doherty, Matthew Leneghan, Padraig McFadden, Pearce Glynn, Noel Gavigan, Gerard McGee, Declan Roper and Seamus Corcoran.
