Patrick Ferry scored a crucial goal for Treaty United against Wexford
Donegal man Patrick Ferry hit a crucial goal for Treaty United on Friday night as they secured an away win over Wexford to reach the First Division play-offs.
There was little to play for in the other four fixtures in the final weekend of the First Division season, apart from in Ferrycarrig Park as Wexford sat one point behind Treaty, who occupied the final play-off spot.
A draw for the Limerick side would have been enough to secure fifth place and a play-off, but Gaoth Dobhair native Ferry gave them the lead on the 50th as he bundled home the rebound from a Mark Byrne shot.
Byrne then added a second 15 minutes later to cement their spot in the play-offs.

It was a fifth goal since signing for the 22-year-old, who joined from Finn Harps after two years at the Ballybofey side.
Ferry scored a couple of crucial goals for Tommy Barrett’s side, hitting an equaliser against Athlone Town and scoring in a 1-1 draw with Kerry. He then scored the opener in a 3-2 win over Athlone last month and netted against Longford Town two weeks ago, although they lost 2-1.
Treaty will face Cobh in a Munster Derby with the first leg at the Markets Field on Monday, October 24 and the return leg in St Colman’s Park the Friday after.
