Bonagee United and Keadue Rovers celebrate their victories

Bonagee United and Keadue Rovers ended the season with silverware in the Donegal Women’s League.

While Letterkenny Rovers took home the Dessie Kelly Memorial Cup with a 3-0 win over Fanad United, two other titles were up for grabs in Ballyare.

There was Rosebowl success for the Keadue Rovers Ladies team on Sunday, defeating Deele Harps on an 8-0 scoreline.

A comprehensive win, with five goals coming from the impressive Caroline Sharkey, two from Amy Hanna and one from Aislinn Coll.

Played in tricky conditions, it took the team a while to settle and Deele were tough opponents but after 16 minutes, Coll fired in a lovely opener and within the next ten minutes, a Caroline Sharkey double put Rovers three goals up before Amy Hanna got on the scoresheet at the end of a fine team move on 37 minutes to secure the game as a contest.

In the second half, Keadue stretched the game, playing some excellent passes and by the 63rd minute, three more well taken goals by Sharkey meant Aidan Comiskey’s side were seven ahead.

Amy Hanna then provided the final flourish just short of 80 minutes to finish the game at a score of 8-0.

It’s even more of an impressive win for the Central Park side, who only returned to competition in the Donegal Women’s League at the beginning of the year.

Comiskey was assisted throughout the season by David Alcorn, Mary Tracey, Padraig Sweeney, Emma McGarvey and Aine Sweeney.

In the Shield final, Bonagee United defeated Raphoe Town 2-0.

A close encounter throughout, Claire Doherty’s first half goal put the Dry Arch Park side ahead and they sealed the win in the second half thanks to Natalie McFadden’s goal just before the hour mark as she finished well from inside the box.
