Cockhill Celtic have gone eight clear at the top of the Inishowen Premier Division after a brilliant 4-0 win over reigning champions Buncrana Hearts.

Hearts  had made the better start and went close when Caolan Doherty's in-swinging cross from the right went narrowly past the far post.

Cockhill took the lead on 19 minutes. Tiernan Ruddy fed Jay Bradley, who in turn found Luke Rudden in the inside-right channel 25 yards out. Rudden swivelled and fired high to the top corner past Clarke.

Buncrana responded with first Bart Wesolowski and Liam Quigley were off target. On 42 minutes, Cockhill went close when Rudden's disguised pass released Brendan McLaughlin.

His right-foot shot was gathered by Clarke. Cockhill doubled their lead just before half-time. Damian Duffy's right-wing corner found Jay Bradley, who headed in.

On the restart, Rudden went close with an audacious chip from outside the box. Cockhill made it 3-0 on 64 minutes with a fantastic team goal.

Great work from Corey McBride saw him find Bradley, who played in Conor Graham, who unselfishly squared for Rudden to slot home.

After a succession of corners, the home side went close when Rudden collected a clearance at the edge of the box, but Clarke produced a brilliant save to deny him his hat-trick.

Corey McBride put the icing on the cake with a fine curled finish from the edge of the box in added time to make it 4-0 and move Cockhill eight points clear at the top of the Premier Division.
