The ATU Donegal women were crowned WSCAI/CUFAI Division 1 champions with a 3-2 win over SETU Waterford in the Athlone Town Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Bríd McGinty’s side took the lead as Jodie Loughrey’s looping header from a corner put them ahead on ten minutes.
They doubled their lead just after the half an hour mark as SETU goalkeeper Ellie Moran tried to play a free kick short, but it was intercepted by Codie Walsh, and her pinpoint chip over the goalkeeper from the corner of the box made it two with the goal of the game.
The Waterford side got one back with 20 minutes to play as Emi Adebayo latched on to a short back pass and poked past Claire Diver.
And they equalised with five minutes to go as Niamh O’Keeffe’s looping effort from 30 yards found the net.

But the Donegal ladies went ahead again with a minute to play as captain Caoimhne Heron was fouled in the box and Erin Doherty found the left corner.
Waterford went in search of an equaliser in the four minutes of added time, but ATU held on for a brilliant victory.
