Ronan Curtis starred on his Plymouth Argyle debut on Tuesday night.

The St Johnston man, a weekend signing from Port Vale, weighed in with three assists in a dramatic 4-3 away win at Bristol Rovers in the EFL Vertu Trophy.

Curtis was snapped up by Argyle boss Tom Cleverly and he wasted no time in showing what he can do.

The night was finely poised at 3-3 with Caleb Watts, Brendan Galloway and Lorent Tolaj scoring for Plymouth and Shaq Forde, Fabrizio Cavegn and Luke Thomas netting for the hosts.

Curtis - who was named Player of the Match - had already contributed two assists when he played a big role in Plymouth’s stoppage time winner, scored by Bum Pepple, sealing a dramatic victory and a place in the quarter-finals.

After coming through the ranks at Kildrum Tigers and going on to Derry City, via a spell at Swilly Rovers, Curtis went on to join Portsmouth for whom he made 184 appearances and scored 42 goals.

From there, he joined AFC Wimbledon on a short-term contract, before signing for Port Vale in the summer of 2024.

Plymouth coach Kevin Nancekivell said of Curtis: “I think Ro proved his quality tonight and he's going to be a great signing for this football club.

"He's proven at this level, he's fitted in straight away and I look forward to seeing him many more times in an Argyle shirt.

"I was just pleased, like everyone else, that he's got off to a good start and our supporters can see what he's going to bring to the team, so hopefully we see a lot more of that."
