The player in question will not be allowed to participate in in the Donegal League for three years

A Deele Harps player has been handed a 36-month suspension for his part in an incident that resulted in his side’s Donegal Physiotherapy Division Two encounter with Drumoghill being abandoned on December 14.

The sides were locked at 4-4 at Martin Duffy Park, nearing the 90-minute mark when the alleged flashpoint in question took place. Referee in charge, Vincent McLoughlin, immediately called a premature halt to matters.

The case was referred directly to the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), whose Disciplinary Control Unit (DCU) has investigated the details in the referee’s match report, a fixture that took place on Sunday, December 14. 

And as a result of that, the player in question, Declan Lafferty, has been hit with a three-year ban. The Donegal Junior League will indicate whether or not the result stands or the fixture will have to be replayed.
