Coláiste Ailigh lost out in a thrilling FAI Schools Junior 'B' Boys Under-17 National Cup Final to Grange Community School, Donaghmeade in Cavan on Wednesday.

The Letterkenny school had a dream start to the final on the 4G at Cootehill Harps, as Naoise Caomhánach pounced on a defensive error from the Grange men to take the lead.

But the Dublin side hit back as Ethan Tansey converted a penalty on the 20th minute.

A superb solo effort from Colm Óg Breathnach in added time of the first half put Brian Proctor’s men back in front, but a Rocco Lawlor free-kick levelled the game up a couple of minutes after the restart.

Grange, managed by Ardara native Paddy McGill, almost took the lead for the first time when Kyle Kavanagh had an effort come back off the woodwork, but they did take the lead from a long-range effort through Elton Feeney just before the hour mark.

And they held on for the win against a battling Coláiste Ailigh to take the title in a closely contested match.
