There have been some boardroom changes at Finn Harps.

Connor Edwards has taken over as the new Finn Harps secretary while Clare McCahill has also been co-opted onto the board.

Edwards succeeds Rory White in the secretary’s role with White moving to a new football-related role at the club.

An associate at FinTrU, Muff resident Edwards takes over at a busy time in the club.

“He has got stuck right in,” said Harps chairman Ian Harkin. “He has made a point of being proactive in learning his role and offering help to others.

“There is a lot going on right now with players getting international caps, training compensation claims in and out of the club, keeping on top of new regulations, safeguarding, club licencing, discipline committee, national league committee.

“Joining the club board is a great learning experience of board level decisions.”

White became the club secretary in 2023 and his switch to a football-related role was confirmed in January, 2025. He stayed as secretary until recent weeks.

Harkin said: “Rory is the main point of contact between all of our players, coaches and backroom staff right through the club to the board. Rory and I would work closely with the first team manager mainly on the planning side, facilities, travel, other player needs from tech to food, recovery equipment and recruitment.

“In the off season Kevin (McHugh), his backroom team, Rory and I visited a number of clubs and facilities specifically looking at their set up, where they train, how they recover, how they eat, how they identify talent.”

Among their trips were visits to the likes of Larne, Bolton, Wigan, Salford City and Hearts.

Harkin said: “As an ex player and teacher with a focus on career guidance Rory has a huge interest in getting the best for the players whilst they are here but also their lives post playing. As a club too we have taken the view that we need to be proactive in player pathway, from the academy to the first team to our national team and beyond this island.

“Traditionally, clubs relied on player agents and we can’t sit back - we have to be proactive in reaching out to clubs and keeping them informed of our players and their performances.”

McCahill has been the Finn Harps club photographer for several years now and has been an active member of the marketing team.

Harkin added: “The marketing team are looking to recruit more help so any budding design, social media, photography volunteers please reach out.”
