Arthur Lynch will step down as the Fanad United manager at the end of the season, the club has confirmed.

This season is Lynch’s 11th at the helm at Traigh-A-Loch.

Lynch succeeded Michael Deeney as manager and stayed on after the club left the Ulster Senior League in 2020.

Fanad returned to the Donegal League and Lynch guided them to a Division One title.

In both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, Fanad were Premier Division champions while last season they had a voyage to the quarter-finals of the FAI Junior Cup..

Former player Lynch, who had great success in the red and black verticals, will now leave the role, as will assistants Paul Nash and Darran Nash.

“He stuck with us during a tough time in the latter years of the Ulster Senior League when he could easily have walked away,” Fanad United said.

“Off the pitch too Arthur has done trojan work taking great pride in Traigh-a-Loch in particular. He even installed the new floodlights with a few helpers.”

In tribute to the Nash brothers, Fanad added: “Like Arthur, both enjoyed successful playing careers with the club.

“Paul joined as assistant manager and his innovative training sessions have kept every team on their toes. Paul also helps out with the social media side producing some superb videos and posters.

“Darran came on board as goalkeeping coach and any keeper will tell you they have improved under his coaching. Along side this, Darran is still signed as a player and is on the bench most weeks, ready to play if needed.”

Fanad say that all three have indicated that they will “still make themselves available to the club if needed”.

A new management team will be announced in due course.
