Illistrin FC’s U-15 side made history on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Trim Celtic in the SFAI All-Ireland Trophy semi-final at Corry Park.

Second-half goals from Davyn McGlynn and captain Darragh Edwards sealed the win, sending Illistrin into their first-ever All-Ireland final in front of a large home crowd.

Managed by Seamus Murphy, alongside Michael McGlynn and Ciaran McElwaine, the team has impressed throughout the competition. After winning the Ulster title against St Catherine’s (Killybegs) in December, Illistrin recorded further wins over Cootehill Harps, Cherry Orchard and St Joseph’s Red (Athlone), before overcoming Corinthians of Cork 3-1 in the last 16.

Heavy rain in the build-up meant a late pitch inspection at Corry Park, but the surface held up well as both sides produced an entertaining contest despite difficult conditions.

Illistrin will now face the winners of the second semi-final, with the All-Ireland final scheduled for the weekend of May 10.

Squad: Dáire Gallagher, Cian Gildea, Stephen McShane, Ryan Gallagher, Seán Lavin, Shay Murphy, Conn Ó Baoill, Darragh Coyle, Ashton Forrester, Noah Sullivan, Seán Tunney, Tom McElwaine, Davyn McGlynn, Daithí Winston, Daimhín Harkin, Oisín McElhinney, Darragh Edwards (captain), Zac O’Carroll, Kayden Sterritt, Paddy Haslette.
