Stephen Doherty in action for Finn Harps

Finn Harps midfielder Stephen Doherty has joined Institute on loan.

Doherty goes out on loan to ‘Stute until the end of the Irish League Championship season.

The Illies man has found game time limited at Harps and goes in search of regular football.

Doherty is one of four deadline day signings at Institute with Ian Parkhill and Kay Riley joining on loan from Coleraine while Gary Henderson makes a permanent switch from Ballinamallard.

Doherty has been on Institute’s radar for some time.

The 21-year-old had been training at Cliftonville recently, but a groin injury put paid to a hint of a move to Solitude.

Doherty played with Harps at Under-17 and Under-19 levels before stepping into the first team squad.

Buncrana man Mark McFadden recently signed for Institute from Derry City.
