Ciaran Coll made his return to action on Friday night as Derry City moved to within two points of Premier Division leaders Shamrock Rovers.

Coll was included in the Candystripes’ rearguard and helped the Foylesiders keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over St Patrick’s Athletic at Richmond Park.

Cian Kavanagh’s 70th minute goal gave Derry the edge.

Coll’s restoration to the XI was a welcome addition for Derry.

The St Johnston man was hospitalised after falling unconscious during Derry’s 1-0 win over Bohemians on September 9.

That game as halted for over 15 minutes with Coll regaining consciousness after around 10 minutes.

Coll spent a night in Altnagelvin Hospital before being discharged with all tests marked as ‘clear’.

Derry welcome Finn Harps to the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium next Friday.
