Emma Doherty has been named on the Women’s National League Team of the Year.
The Buncrana woman had a superb debut season with WNL newcomers Sligo Rovers.
Doherty scored 11 goals for Steve Feeney’s team having moved from the Donegal Women’s League.
Sligo finished eighth in 2023:
Former Illies Celtic attacker Doherty starred for Donegal in the underage WNL before being snapped up by the Bit O’Red.
Doherty recently signed a new long-term deal at the Showgrounds and is a scholarship student at ATU Sligo.
Doherty was the Player of the Month for June-July and also made 11 appearances for the Republic of Ireland Under-19s.
Her displays were further recognised with a place on the shortlist for WNL Young Player of the Year, which was won by Shelbourne’s Jess Stapleton.
