Keith Cowan has announced his departure from Drogheda United.

The former Finn Harps captain played with the Louth last season and helped them to an eighth placed finish in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division finish, having also lined out for Dungannon Swifts and Glentoran in the Irish League.

"Short, but very sweet, is how i would describe my time DroghedaUnited," Ramelton native Cowan, 37, wrote on Instagram. "Unfortunately i will not be a Drog next season. It truly was one of my most enjoyable years in football. The people at the club, the players and Management have made my family & I feel so welcome from day 1.

"To the fans, different class, the atmosphere you guys created every week drove us to many great victories, and made it a special place to play. I have made some great friends in Drogheda and will remember the place and the people very fondly.
