Naomh Conaill GAA club have expressed their condolences to the family of one of their supporters - Stephen Brennan - who lost his life in a road traffic accident in Mayo on Wednesday.

Twenty-five-year-old Stephen and Martin Murphy, 27, from Knock, were involved in a collision with an articulated truck on the N60 between Balla and Claremorris shortly before midnight on Wednesday and both sadly died.

“We were devastated to hear of the passing of Stephen Brennan, Bahola, Co Mayo yesterday,” read a statement from the Glenties based club. “Stephen was an ardent Naomh Conaill supporter through his Mother, Rita (O’Donnell), Meenahallow, and attended so many of our games.

“Even though he was a big Mayo fan also, his love for his mother’s homeplace was evident for all to see, and we will miss his friendly face around town. We offer our deepest sympathies to his parents, Rita and Declan, his two Grannies, Maggie and Angela, uncles Gerry, Michael, Columba O'Donnell, Aideen and Gerry Brennan, aunts Mary Pratico and Virginia Filan and his many cousins, friends and other family members. Rest easy Stephen. Ar dhèis Dè go raibh a anam.”

Stephen will repose at his home in Lismirrane, Bohola, Co. Mayo F12HH31, on Saturday evening from 6 o'clock until 10 o'clock and on Sunday from 4 o'clock until 7 o'clock. Funeral Mass on Monday at 12 noon in the Church of the Immaculate Conception and Saint Joseph Bohola, followed by burial afterwards in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bohola.
