Cealán Goan
A 24-year-old Bundoran man who suffered a horrific accident as a toddler and had to undergo over 64 operations has decided to bring his moving story to the big screen.
Cealán Goan was 18 months old when he drank caustic soda which caused severe injuries. Cealán's road to recovery was a long one and his childhood story was documented in a Virgin Media series called Temple Street.
Cealán continues to receive correspondence from around the world asking about his progress. In response to the high demand, he and his good friend Ryan decided to make their own film called Under the Kitchen Sink which shares his inspirational story.
Describing his friend Ryan as a legend, Cealán said that after they began to make their film they set up a gofundme account which many people donated to enabling Cealán and Ryan to make the film that they wanted.
Speaking on OceanFm earlier this week, Cealán said he was receiving correspondents from people as far away as Australia asking him about his story. Cealán was curious as to how people were seeing his story and decided to ask them how they knew about what happened to him: "They actually told me they seen it on Youtube," he said.
Cealán went onto Youtube where he saw a footage about him and his story and saw that a lot of people were asking how he was since his childhood accident.
Cealán says he is living a relatively normal life: "I am living a relatively normal life so I can't complain. I go to work and I play football."
He said he had no difficulty telling his own story because it might help people who may be going through something similar.
The film Under the Kitchen Sink is being shown in Eclipse in Bundoran on July 20 at 8.45pm.
